Look east northeast Friday 1.40AM (EST) in the sky a quarter of the way up, to see the shower's radiant. Today is the best, but Jan 1-5 is okay. That means tonight early in the morning. The conditions would be ideal except for the cold, because the crescent moon won't be blocking out the light until after 4am. One or two per minute, long blue/silver trails.
Brrrr cold!

The only problem is that we're both in major cities, where there's so much light pollution we can barely see the sky. I'd like to see this, but I'm not sure what will be visible!
I'll never forget two summers ago, when I went out on a boat in the Amazon at night. 'Twas the first time I'd been in a place where there wasn't any electric lighting for hundreds of miles and you could really see the stars. I'd never realized how many there were, nor how bright they were, until then.
