Saw Xmen origins today. wasn't too bad, but nothing too special either.
Of course if you are into the comics then there is no stopping you.
If you are a fan of Hugh Jackman, then you are in for a treat. He's nekkid a few times, and even does the classic terminator pose where he is bent on one knee crouched down.
Oh one thing, if you do go and see it, make sure you stay for the credits. Both of them. No kidding.

I would give it a 4 out of 6 claws. Meow?
"Sorry this show is for UK audiences only"
Damn them snobby Brits. hahahaa
Remember all those educational videos they had in high school? This is the more of the same, but for adults with a twist of wry British humour, and a dash of over the channel colloquialism. I get the impression that the two female hosts (Em & Lo) of the show appear to be reading their lines [or their books perhaps].
I just can't keep a straight face when the butleresque narrator with that accent describes the action during the cut scenes to the 'secret' garden where they have two models writhing in the background but a cartoon drawing of the parts in question overlays most of the screen.
They have two 'reporters' that go on weekly adventures to try out new escapades then report back their findings, in the studio. Things such as remote controlled toys to pleasure your partner over the web, mile high club and sticking a needle into the vaginal area in some crazy botox-like procedure.
I can't tell if their 'survey' between Londonites and New Yawkers are staged or not. They ask one question to people on the streets of both locations and we hear the results. But if you pay attention closely it seems the same people are being interviewed for the first few episodes.
They have two on-the-street setups to give their advice. One is a Snoopy style 5cents advice booth where some black dude just has to ask, "What if I'm too big, what do I do?" with a smug smile on his lips.
The second one is give their consultation inside a mock confessional booth separated by a wooden wall and curtains. "Should I tell my boyfriend that I cheated on him with his brother?"
Sheesh.
yes the one on the right really does keep up that toothy grin the whole time.

Speaking of bridges, I got the latest scoop today [referring to yesterday, Friday] on what was sure to be the most excitement we had all day at work. Some contractors who were painting the bridges drove the crane-like structure atop their truck into a gantry (the metal framework that supports signs + other devices, looks like a square shaped upside down U --> n) and rammed it into two pieces collapsing onto the 6 lanes of traffic below during lunch time.
Traffic had to be stopped in both directions for almost 7 hours.
So to recreate this for you guys, picture the one above, falling and looking like the tiny one below. I know it is hard to see anything so use some imagination.
The bottom pic was the actual picture. It is so small because the crappy camera was all the way at the top of the bridge looking downwards.
Earth Hour 2009
To be a part of this, all you gotta do is turn off all your unecessary electrical doodads this Saturday from 8.30pm-9.30pm local time.
So simple even a half-trained orangutan could do it.
It is worldwide. The funny thing is this whole event is ironically probably gonna cost more electricity than not. But the effort is symbolic so look for it. I believe Times Sq and Empire State would be darkened.
To show support for this, even our beloved MTA B&T is turning off the necklace lights on our bridges during this time.

March 28, 2009
It is that time of year again boys & girls.
Look towards the southwest after sunset, and see the crescent moon, with two bright dots.
Is it a bird? A plane? Yes it has to be a UFO!
As these three celestial bodies do their dance in the evening sky, we here in the NY get the no frills version of the show with Jupiter and Venus right next to the moon.
Those lucky Europeans meanwhile, will see it slightly different with with the moon actually eclipsing Venus. After the moon passes over Venus, the end result is an unveiled Venus that appears on the crescent of the moon.
You might be wondering why you can still see most of the dimmed circular part of the moon along with the crescent shape. That's because Earth's also reflecting sunlight. We are seeing the light hitting the Earth reflected to the moon and reflected again back to us. You've heard of moonshine? Well this is earthshine!
At least tonight isn't as cold so go out there and look up at the sky!
